Last year her revenue was upward of $1 million. Her dresses costs about $125 on average. "This is a customer that's vocal and she knows what she wants and she's not hiding behind the black and the brown and the slimming," Clarke said. That customer includes about 64 percent of American women who fall into the plus-size category, but account for only 17 percent of purchases. While more of them are appearing in ad campaigns, red carpets and even the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition , experts say plus-sized women are still viewed as having negative perceptions about their bodies. "Culturally they've been made to feel like they shouldn't splurge on themselves because all they need to do is lose that 20 pounds and then 'Aren't you going to wish that you'd waited until you bought that?'" New York Times style editor Katherine Rosman said. On "E! News" Tuesday, Rancic said the reaction to her comments has increased her awareness of, in her words, "cliches and stereotypes." They are damaging, she said, adding that she and others have the responsibility to avoid perpetuating them. During Monday's "Fashion Police" on the E! channel, http://www.chicemma.com Rancic said that Zendaya's hair suggested the smell of patchouli oil or marijuana. The E! talk show isn't the only media outlet guilty of ridiculing the singer for her natural hair , she said.In Touch Weekly"compared it to a dog," she tweeted. In a column last year about pets that resemble celebrities, the gossip magazine reportedly ran a photo of a reader's Yorkshire terrierpoodle mix side by side with a photo of Knowles. "Basically twinsies" was the snarky caption. "What can I say?" tweeted Knowles. Turns out, GIFs speak louder than words. She shrugged off the natural hair haters with one dramatic shake of her voluminous, wavy tresses, captured in a GIF that's been retweeted nearly 20,000 times. Knowles' digital flip of the hair (subbing, perhaps, for her middle finger) came in response to Fashion Police remarks that Zendaya's hair on the Oscar red carpet Sunday night must have smelled like "patchouli oil" or "weed." Zendaya later posted to Instagram that she thought the comments were "not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive." Zendaya accepted Rancic's apology in a tweet Wednesday morning, writing: "Body shaming and other hurtful tactics will never get the job done." She ended with a quote from Martin Luther King Jr.: "Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that." <br>Source: http://news.yahoo.com/solange-had-no-words-fashion-police-her-flip-205626530.html

Fashion Show at Summit High School to benefit Operation Smile | NJ.com
One of the world's biggest fashion firms has banned the sale of angora wool after activists highlighted the cruel treatment of rabbits by farms in China. Inditex, which owns Zara, Massimo Dutti and Bershka, said it would stop selling angora garments in all of its 6,400 shops after facing months of pressure from animal rights campaigners. One campaign against angora wool showed videos of live rabbits screaming while fur is pulled from their skins on Chinese farms. The footage, obtained by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) at 10 farms in China, also showed rabbits being stretched on boards and cut as their fur is hacked off. <br>Source: http://money.cnn.com/2015/02/10/news/companies/angora-rabbit-wool-ban-inditex/index.html?section=money_topstories

A crowd of celebrities came out to view Raf Simons' latest collection, which has a distinctly retro feel. On a giant platform outside the Parisian museum today, models showcased the 1960s-inspired looks of the Christian Dior Spring-Summer 2015 haute couture collection. The designer chose to play with contrasting volumes, namely in long, loose and transparent trench coats worn over embroidered mini-dresses. Flared skirts also made a strong showing, echoing the French fashion house's signature design codes. Colorful stripe motifs are a recurring theme in the collection, along with other groovy geometric prints seen in jumpsuits, bodysuits and dresses. As usual at Dior, flowers in the mix too, either in prints or in intricate embroidery. Combining the retro with the modern, the show also paired a number of go-go style mini-dresses with ultra-chic latex boots (ankle or thigh-high) in black, green, red and even orange . While Versace chose to play up feminine curves in sensual, close-fitting gowns, Schiaparelli presented only a couple of tight dresses. Instead, the focus in this collection is on ample tailoring and fluid fabrics, with a particular emphasis on wide-legged pants. The waists are typically worn high, sometimes even just above the chest. The fashion house's signature design codes are well represented, as seen in the wide and prominent shoulders in a number of looks. The prints are abstract, with loads of flashy colors (green, red, orange), a few darker shades (midnight blue, brown, pastel blue, black, white) and shimmery accents. One of the most remarkable pieces was a blue pantsuit decorated with mirrors. But the real showstopper was Schiaparelli's eccentric wedding gown: a trench-style mini-dress in glittery gold fabric, complete with a long train in the same material. <br>Source: http://news.yahoo.com/haute-couture-fashion-week-schiaparelli-153015468.html

And now it's back again, ruling the catwalk. (Everyone knows that fashion, like history, is cyclical.) Paul Smith's lovely collection showcased suit jackets that were fit for a modern-day Film Noir movie, the square shoulders giving the young models an authoritative gait in the old-school masculine, debonair style. Molenaar's design house says he died in an Amsterdam hospital on Friday following a fall at his home Dec. 22.
